Sleepy Hollows was born, as most dreams are, in a bedroom. It began with two turntables, a microphone, a lifelong passion for music, and a “never sleep” work ethic that belied the original studio’s setting.
Music has always been family business at Sleepy Hollows. While it’s still underground, the Hollows has graduated from a bedroom into a state of the art analog & digital recording studio providing full service music production, recording, mixing & mastering, and rehearsal space.
Sleepy Hollows is founded in the Aspen, CO bedroom of owner, Neal B., and hence the name “Sleepy Hollows” was born. The “studio” originally consisted of 2 turntables, a mic and an old Aiwa stereo.
2004 – 2005
Sleepy Hollows relocates back east to Reston, VA, once again, in a spare bedroom of a property being rented by Neal B. The “studio” matured to include a computer running Cool Edit Pro and actual monitors.
2005 – 2006
Sleepy Hollows moves HQ to the 1st home purchased by Neal B. in Fairfax, VA. An addition of a true “mic closet” made recording so much easier.
2006 – 2008
Sleepy Hollows moves once again back to Reston, VA off of Lake Audubon. Aside from having much better scenery, the studio (the “ “s no longer needed) included a professionally constructed mic booth complete with a heavy steel exterior door installed backwards to help with sound isolation. It was here that the infamous “Thursday Night Sessions” began.
2008 – Present
Sleepy Hollows settled in to its permanent home in Historic Herndon, VA. What started with a professionally designed control room and mic booth, has blossomed into full suite including 3 isolation rooms, lounge and kitchen providing the perfect atmosphere for people to create. It’s no wonder some of the largest companies in the world to some of the most talented artists in the region choose Sleepy Hollows as their #1 studio.
